Rahul Dravid achieved this with a knock of 180 runs in the Test match against Australia at Eden Gardens Kolkata. Gill and Pant batted well for India to beat Australia in the fourth Test at Brisbane. Brett Lee recalls the one time when he was bowling very fast at 165 kmph and Sachin hit the ball for three fours in an over leaving Lee spellbound. Ajaz Patel comes from a humble background in Mumbai before moving to New Zealand as a child. Here he recalls the excitement of getting his first cricket spikes. His father worked at his brother's automotive shop in the new country and his mother was a schoolteacher.

Ajaz did the incredible feat of getting all 10 wickets with spin bowling at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai in his first innings bowling for New Zealand. And in Azaz's situation he had less experience as his first Test match was played at age 30 years.

From street vendors to temples there is a constant feel of India in Trinidad. It comes from 150,000 indentured laborers sent by the British from India to work on sugar plantations. Their descendents make up most of the population on Trinidad. Tobago has Afro-Caribbean culture and sounds, in Trinidad temples dot the highways and the music on radio is mostly English songs in Hindi lyrical style. The oil and gas wealth that is seen in the high rise buildings in the capital Port of Spain blend easily with street stalls selling chana masala on flatbread, a staple of Trinidad.

Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra has the right attitude in sports. He is 38, has decided to play cricket only in certain formats, about 8 matches a year. He is a fast pace bowler for Himachal Pradesh cricket team. Here he shares thoughts with PTI reporter that he does not follow what people say about him, about his age, and does not follow Twitter or Facebook. He says what matters is how he practices for the sport. After 12 surgeries and a injury this year Ashish says he knows what it is to be under the knife. People will say many things if he plays well and even more things if he does badly. Ashish says what matters in the end is how he prepares for the sport, like any sport it is the preparation and long hours of practice that make a difference. What he does and how he plays the selection board and the captain of the team know very well, which is why he was invited to play again for India. Ashish can bowl fast comparable to younger bowlers, and has played for India as long as other veteran players M.S. Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh. He conserves his energy by not playing 5 day Test matches. He can then give 100 percent to the 24 or more balls he may bowl in a game. He bowls at about 140 km per hour. In many ways Ashish has the right attitude for sports. Leaving aside the praise or criticism and concentrating on what is ahead. Not even thinking too far ahead. Sometimes it is just the next game, this year, which needs all the attention and can make all the difference. Playing the right way, working diligently at it, helping coach younger players, is all that really counts, in this sport, or any sport.       ...

India recorded 100,000 cases in one day on April 5, 2021. About half of these cases are in one state Maharashtra. Most of the cases are in about 6 states. Google Mobility Reports have shown that movements around retail areas dropped to about 80% below regular levels in the middle of the national lockdown in spring of 2020, and have come back up to about 20% below normal levels. When the winter surge did not happen, and the vaccination drive started in January in India people became less vigilant, allowing infections to increase. The vaccination drive is accelerating and open to everyone over 45 years. About 80 million doses have been given and the target is still for 300 million doses by August.  ...

Without FW De Klerk's vision and leadership, and courage to go against the instincts of Afrikaaners in the National Party, could South Africa have ended up in civil war and become like some other African nations a failed state? This was a distinct possibility in the 1990's and a failed state today would be much worse than any of the difficulties that South Africa has faced so far. By 1992 with release of Nelson Mandela and 1994 with elections based on universal franchise, De Klerk had dismantled much of the system of Apartheid or race based rule of white Afrikaaners. Apartheid was a system of racial segregation based government imposed by a white Afrikaaner government in 1948 and which continued till 1994. Afrikaaners are descendants of Dutch immigrants to the Transvaal and other regions in British South Africa. They briefly fought a war with the British called the Boer War from 1899 to 1902. Today there are about 2.7 million Afrikaaners in South Africa, about 100,000 in Namibia, about 41,000 in Zambia. As best seen on the cricket grounds white and black Africans in South Africa and Namibia are part of a new mutiracial country. Much of this made possible by De Klerk's courage as a Transvaaler who made the right choices after assuming the leadership of the National party in 1989, coming from provincial roots in Transvaal.  ...

When you consider Anderson and Broad as a duo they have pushed England to the top of Test cricket earlier with the West Indies and now with Pakistan. Broad did better in some games and Anderson in others. It is the same with Woakes. As soon as some doubts appeared about Broad he was good with both the ball and the bat. The same with Woakes against Pakistan in the first Test. Anderson has to just shrug off the media reports, which swing one way then the other, and concentrate on playing and enjoying the game.

After 30 from 103 balls Rishabh Pant became impatient without a goal in mind and took aim at the 104th from Travis Head over midwicket into Mitchell Marsh's hands. This started the collapse when the tea session was close at hand on the final day and India could easily have batted out the rest of the day. Boland, Cummins, and Lyon ran through the lower order with some excellent catching in the field. Australia lead 2-1 as the cricketers head to Sydney. The Indians have a lot to think about, including the absence of Shubman Gill, the failure of Rohit Sharma in batting, the Australian lower order Lyon and Cummins putting up resistance and the Indian lower order folding so quickly in the final hours on the fifth day.
