Mexico's exports of crude oil declined to 881,000 barrels a day in 4 weeks through Jan 10, compared to 1.8 million barrels in Feb 2013, according to the Energy Information Administration. RBS plans to reduce the seven business lines to three lines, and set medium term cost cutting target of 8 billion pounds. Headcount will go down by 20,000. Risk weighted assets will be cut by 50 billion pounds.

India's Supreme Court criticizes Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for failing to respond for more than a year to a request to investigate allegations about improper awarding of telecom licenses. Telecom licenses were sold by the government in 2008 to politically connected companies, at rates far below the market rates. The Auditor General's report showed that licenses were awarded in a way that "lacked transparency and fairness."

RIM says its Blackberry subscriber base dropped to about 76 million from 79 million the prior quarter. The acquisition of Wachovia is now showing up in huge losses at Wells Fargo Bank. Fourth quarter losses for 2008 are $2.55 billion. With the Wachovia acquisition Wells Fargo took on $219 billion of commercial real estate and corporate loans and a large number of toxic pay-option mortgages. CV Therapeutics makes an angina drug that recently received FDA approval to isgnificantly ease safety warnings that have been placed on the drug. Walmart will issue these changes to its supply chain at a global supply-chain summit in Beijing this week.
