The next mission for ISRO is the one next year, a joint space flight with NASA to the International Space Station. This will take Indian astronauts into space for the first time. Following this there will be a followup to Chandrayan 3 called LUPEX with the Japanese Space Agency JAXA in 2024-2025 for lunar exploration of the dark side of the moon that does not face the sun. For this the lander will be from ISRO, the Rover and spacecraft from JAXA. Gangayan mission will put Indian astronauts in space on Indian spacecraft next. The sample return mission is next in the Chandrayan missions similar to Chang'e 5 for China in 2020 bringing a sample of lunar rocks back to the earth.

Kasman of J.P. Morgan Chase only sees a small upturn in activity, that as he sees it in a world where activity is so depressed that modest changes by business and households give a lift, with unemployment coming down to 9%. Hatzius of Goldman sees unemployment rising in an economy where capacity utilization is extremely low, with unemployment rising to 10.5% even with the best efforts of the government. Hatzius sees a painful defaltion as a serious risk and he points out that the Fed can do less about deflation than it can do about inflation. The one point that both agree on is exports have to give alift to the economy, and both welcome a depreciatipon of the dollar to lift the economy through exports. Hatzius makes the point that the lift to exports is still limited- not enough in exchage rate depreciation of the dollar to help the American economy. And Kasman actually says it now Asia's turn to do their share. We lifted them out of the slump after the 1997 Asian crisis, when their currencies depreciated and exports to the US lifted their economies....

The authors of the book Red Capitalism, two bankers, Walter and Howie, describe the evolution of China's banking system from the early days of 1974 to the present day. The account shows a sophisticated system of markets and companies, but behind the facade, is a more primitive system with its good side and problem areas. Risk is hard to define or capture in this system as the system is for the most part closed, trading entirely with itself. State controlled banks deal with stae entities in ways that are not so transparent. This distorts external perception of China's solvency. state debt for example is low, about 20% of GDP by one measure, but when all government obligations are added together, the authors say it is 76%. The whole business of providing, receiving and regulating money involves different state entities. As the system trades with itself, critical information about liabilities and pricing is concealed or difficult to figure out. The lack of outside entities setting prices disrupts efficient capital allocation and lets excesses grow within the system, making for concern about the future of this system.This is especially true considering that with the Asian crisis of 1997, then the US banking crisis of 2008, and the current crisis in the Euro-zone countries banking systems, excesses eventually take root....

On the production side output has fallen to an estimated 1.6 million barrels a day(U.S. government and independent analyst estimate) from nearly 3 million barrels a day in 1998. But even this is an estimate, PDVSA says its daily output is about 2.2 million barrels a day, and plans to boost it 4 million barrels a day by 2012. Brazil's growth is seeing a surge in the size of the middle class. Since 2003 about 32 million people have entered the middle class and 20 million haven risen above poverty, in a country of 198 million people, according to the Center for Social Policies at the Getulio Vargas Foundation, a Rio policy group. As unemployment rises and industrial production drops Democrats in the states with dependence on heavy manufacturing and use of coal are going to have to make the difficult tradeoffs between their support for controlling emissions and favoring the environment versus their interest in keeping industry. According to the Department of Energy, in 2005 the state of Ohio derived 86% of its electricity from coal compared to California which derived 20.7% of its electricity from coal, 40% from hydroelectric power and renewable sources. Other Great Lakes and Plains states are similar to Ohio. Yet the key committees in Congress and the Senate are controlled by Ms. Boxer, Mr Waxman, and have the backing of Speaker Pelosi.
