A critical flaw in the IMF and EU's plan for Greece is the optimistic forecasts for Greece. The IMF forecast was for the Greek economy to decline by 2.6% of GDP in 2011, yet estimates now are for a decline of 6.8%. As a result even with a second bailout for $130 billion the situation is likely to deteriorate as the economy contracts faster than the IMF predicts and the debt continues to remain unsustainable. With no pro-growth policy in place the situation provides little hope for the Greeks. Kenneth Rogoff, a Harvard economics professor, says he is astounded by the short term psychology that gives financial markets hope that something will work.

See these awesome pictures of the starry skies and the rendezvous between Jupiter and Saturn as seen from earth in December 2020 to remind us of our place in the vast Milky Way and outer space. Jupiter takes 12 years to circle the sun, Saturn 30 years they came this close in 1623. As Giles Sparrow points out in his book "21 Stars in The Milky Way," ther are 200 billion stars, and distances are vast beyond comprehension. Thousands of years for light travelling at 300,000 kilometres a second to get to earth from distant stars in The Milky Way! Think of that and there is so little we know at this time of the pandemic about so many things!

Lally Weymouth interviews Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong in March 2013. He says the leadership in China is experienced and have received preparation in different roles before their current positions. Their purpose he sees as taking China to the next level for the economy and making economic reforms, as well as adapting to a society that is changing fast with the growing middle class. He sees China's younger generation as being more nationalistic because of not having grown up and seen the war period in the thirties and forties and the chaos of the Cultural Revolution in the 1970's. He sees less immigration and slower growth in Singapore.
