How Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal was able to reduce his heart rate to 100 bpm as he prepared to take the first shot in a penalty shootout in Euro Cup soccer against Slovenia.  It was 170 bpm at the end of extra time. This was after he missed a penalty shot during the game. Ronaldo uses breathing in and breathing out as a way to control his heart rate. Visualization is another technique he uses to be in the best state of mind. Along with hydration, healthy diet and good sleep patterns breathing exercise is a way to reduce the heart rate in moments of stress. Why is it effective? Ronaldo says "It's because it makes you calm." The tracking was recorded by a fitness device called WHOOPS. This breathing in and breathing out is part of the Buddhist practice and an ancient way of maintaining the four forms of mindfulness involving contemplation of the body, of feeling, of mind, and of mind object.

Langer former Australian opener batsman has written a book "Seeing the Sunrise" which is devoted to philosophy and psychology, and is a about overcoming self-doubt. The team made a circle of the grounds at Edgbaston, getting to know the field from all vantage points, and then met with Langer in a circle, exchanging stories, laughter, and memories.

He also replaced Thomas Muller and it will take some time before the German national team coach can find the new younger players to replace the old ones. This approach is not unique to Joachim Low alone as other national teams are also looking for younger players. The Spanish national team and the Portuguese national team have many younger players in an effort to bring new faces to the game who excel at soccer. Younger German players being called to play on the national team include Philipp Max, Robin Gosens, Nico Schulz, Mahmoud Dahoud, Nadiem Amiri, Florian Neuhaus, Jonas Hofmann. The only way to play other national teams who are bringing in younger players is for Low to tap into younger talent in Germany and let the process bring results.

Hope stems from the goals set for carbon neutral economy of Japan, the EU, UK, China, and the U.S. as it enters the agreement after withdrawing.  Much will depend on action taken as the pandemic has pushed economic goals of recovery to the forefront. As India has shown in renewable energy, particularly in solar energy targets and bold vision, there is a lot that can be done by each country acting on its own without the hype of the agreement. India now sees huge opportunities in solar energy because it is cheaper and pollutes less than coal. American tennis player Doris Hart from the University of Miami once played three Wimbledon finals in one day because of rain delays, winning all, in 1951. She made up for lack of speed on the court because of leg and knee issues with finesse, using drop shots and a strong serve with an all court game to win. Her story is unique because she spent many years as a child recovering from a bone infection, called osteomyelitis. At one point a specialist even suggested amputation because of the infection. She recovered and went on to win titles in Australia in 1949, France 1950 and 1952, Wimbledon 1951, and the U.S. 1954 and 1955. Her view of today's tennis game is that not much strategy is brought into the game compared to an earlier period, making it less fun to watch. Her story of recovery and persistence is similiar to the story of Glenn Cunningham, one of America's fastest runners, who broke the world record in the 1500 metres at the 1936 Olympics, and became the fastest miler in the world in 1938. Cunningham from the University of Kansas had leg issues because of burns suffered when he was 8 years old from a fire. Doctors recommended amputation at one point for the infection. Doris Hart says in her autobiography, "Tennis with Hart," never to let despondency take over, to respond with faith, courage and patience....
