Paul Waldman reports in the Washington Post that a lawyer for Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor to president Trump, has ended communications with Mr. Trump's legal team. Attorney General nominee William Barr sayshe will not interfere with the Mueller Russia investigation, calling it "vitally important" that this investigation be completed. The bigger story it says is that George Papadopoulos was found to have pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI investigators about his contacts with Russian nationals. This is seen by the BBC as a roller coaster ride in the Mueller investigation that is just beginning as deals are struck between those investigated and the Mueller investigation team.

The U.S. Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, defends the Mueller investigation into Russian meddling in elections in a Congressional hearing. He says most of the employees at the agency with very few exceptions are honest and trustworthy. Denmark's shipping company A.P. Moeller-Maersk plans to split into 2 different divisions, one for transport and one for energy. Maersk Line, the largest container operator in the shipping industry, will become part of the new Transport and Logistics Division.
