S&P forecast is for India's economy to be the third largest by 2030 at 6.3% annual growth. Positive consumer sentiment, domestic demand and increasing state investment are increasing growth to 7.8% and 7.6% in the second and third quarter 2023. Indian Navy's ensign is only now being changed from the St. George's Cross to the seal of Shivaji, who fought invasions of the British and from Afghanistan. Shivaji built the Indian fleet to protect the coastline of western India from the British and from Afghan origin navies in the region. Vikrant aircraft carrier now joins US, Japanese and Australian ships that are part of the Quad and the Indo-Pacific group of nations working to keep the seas open and uphold the rule of international law in navigation. China's coastline of 14,000 kms is not facing the key sea lanes and compares with the following for the Indo-Pacific group - India with 7500 kms, Japan with 30,000 kms, Australia with 25,000 kms, US with 20,000 kms. Indonesia which works with Quad is right on the sea lanes near Singapore with 54,000 kms coastline. With the coastline of New Zealand alone larger than that of China there is a coastline of over 150,000 kilometres or about 100,000 miles for the US, Australian, Japanese and Indian navies to protect. The US has 7 aircraft carriers in its Pacific Fleet to do this- they are the Nimitz, Carl Vinson, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, John Stennis, Ronald Reagan. ...

How Ratan Tata's vision of a small car for 1 lakh rupees or about $2500 for the Indian market may change the way the world looks at and buys cars. Note that the Indian car market is expected to become the fastest growing car market by 2013 at 14.5% compared to 8% in China according to estimates by CSM Worldwide. In 2008 Tata will come up with its new 1 lakh rupee car. What Tata's vision has done is challenge the world's leading car makers to come with versions of a small car for the Indian market of their own, with Renault-Nissan, Hyundai and VW and Honda all taking up the challengein the days and years ahead. This is also a challenge for Indian infrastructure, and for the road system in all of South Asia from Sri Lanka to all the way up the South Asian subcontinent to Pakistan and Afghanistan. It will also bring about greater integration of the whole region and create the conditions for significant economic development.

The nine divisional headquarters were Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Munger, Saran, Saharsa and Purnia. Committees will be formed to monitor the townships’ overall development." ...

Modi in West Bengal - many rallies across the state for second phase of State Elections and goals for Vikshit Bharat (Modernized India 2047) with West Bengal as a key part in Paribortan or Transformation. British prime minister Boris Johnson will visit India in January at the invitation of Indian prime minister Modi. It is the first bilateral visit of Mr. Johnson since taking office. In his monthly television address called "Mann Ki Baat" prime minister Modi apologizes to Indians for the complete lockdown of the country. Modi said "for a a country the size of India we need strong measures. Nobody likes to take strong measures, but it is the only option, seeing other countries and learning that the disease must be dealt with at the beginning before it becomes incurable."  He cautioned that social distancing did not mean emotional or human distancing. Sympathy and cooperation are needed. He called frontline healthcare and sanitation workers "warriors" and "soldiers," and promised Rs 50 lakh (5 million) insurance for 20 lakh (2 million) such workers. He also commended the work of shopkeepers, drivers, bank workers and others to keep essential services running. Modi suggested now is time "to not go out, but to look within yourself. Try to know yourself." He gave examples of recovering doctors and workers, and of finding new hobbies. In coming time he said every Indian will try to break barriers for the country's development, once this crisis has passed. ...
