Feulner says he believes having the numbers right is important to maintain credibility, and it is important to respect the origin of the opposite side's ideas. Feulner reminds readers the Heritage Foundation has 600,000 donors as current members, and once turned down a check from textile magnate Milliken over its support for free trade. Its positions strive to be conservative, not Republican. Feulner looks ahead to political leaders like Jack Kemp who partnered with Bob Garcia of the Bronx on urban revival, and could take caring positions outside the political spectrum.

Higher cancer rates are seen in the region surrounding the plant. U.S. unemployment declined to 7.7% in November 2012 from 7.9% the prior month, with 146,000 jobs created, according to the Labor Dept. The rate for the prior two months was revised downward by 49,000 jobs. The labor force dropped by 350,000 jobs, with fewer people looking for work, which suggests continued problems in finding jobs. The number of people saying they had a job fell by 122,000. The retail sector added 53,000 jobs, leisure and hospitality 23,000 and professional and business services 43,000.
