Urban locations with fewer trees, less grass, heat absorbing pavement can be 20 degree hotter, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A 110 aircraft $15 billion deal is being negotiated by India with Boeing and other manufacturers. This deal requires all aircraft be assembled in India to create jobs, and requires transfer of technology so that India can build up its own defense industry for exports. The U.S. sees India as a counterpoint to China in the Indian Ocean as China expands in that region, and transfer of technology is being done to increase Indian capabilities. In the past India has sourced defense needs including aircraft from Russia, and this is an effort to improve ties with India. Lockheed is considering building F-16 aircraft in India with Indian partner Tata.

How the little known Hong Kong startup KAiOS Technologies with its low cost operating system is bringing low cost access to basic smart phone features, making them affordable for the 3 billion people lacking smartphones because of the cost. Jio phones of Reliance Technologies started this affordability change by working with KAiOS to bring out its $20 Jio phone and building a high speed 4G network in India to provide low cost data to these users. Reliance turned things upside down by bringing to India the cheapest data on wireless phone use of any country in the world. KAiOS is now the third most important operating system for wireless phones after Android and Apple. This is now spreading to Brazil, Indonesia, and Africa.

Tata Projects Limited is the lowest of two bidders at 860 crores for India's new parliament building. The old parliament building is considered inadequate today and was first opened in 1927 when the British first introduced local legislatures as a form of home rule in India. The time allowed for it to be built is a strict 21 months and will require putting a new face on the central Vista area that runs through the centre of New Delhi. It should generate jobs, and provide a fitting place for debating the many issues that face India in its drive for modernization, particularly today after the pandemic when many issues such as manufacturing, industrial development defense, agricultural modernization, infrastructure development are taking on new urgency. After almost three decades of slow progress India is now entering a new phase for speed and implementation of projects.

Pfizer says a third dose of Pfizer vaccine neutralized the Omicron variant in lab tests. The two dose was much less effective at blocking the virus. A third dose increased antibodies 25 fold compared two doses for the omicron variant. "Today I’m moving past Republican obstruction and using the executive authorities available to me as president to do what I can on my own to address the border,” said president Biden. Late career layoff have affected savings of middle and professional class of Americans since 2009. Recent data show 25% of those laid off in years when kids college tution and other exorbitantly growing expenses can strain budgets and savings, are not able to find jobs. Others end up in lower paying work. Fewer job protections under Anglo Saxon capitalist economies of US and Britain compared to Germany and France lead to his type of job loss being more prevalent in these societies. Sometimes US can offer more job opportunities but this also comes with more job loss for many reasons.

The 22 kilometre Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) opens today. It is India's longest sea bridge. 170,000 tons of steel went into the bridge which involved digging into the seabed 40 metres down to support large girders. It starts in Sewri and ends in Raigad in Navi Mumbai.The sealink is 16.5 kms and the two land viaducts at both sides 5.5 kms. Built at a cost of 21.2 thousand crores rupees of which 15.1 thousand crores or 70% comes from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Construction and engineering was done by Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries, Daewoo, and Indian companies Tata Projects, Larsen & Toubro, bringing together Japanese, Korean and Indian expertise for new projects of this type to be built by 2030. It cuts commuter time by 45 minutes and brings better access to the airports and ports in the area of Mumbai, and to cities in the southern part of the country including Pune.

Much of the US jobs market is stalled with a "noticeable deterioration" by June says the Fed. Companies are not laying off people, yet they are also not hiring. The class of 2025 faces a job market with a real slowdown. Hiring has dropped 44% compared to June 2022 says one payrolls company Gusto looking at data from 400,000 businesses. The economy has 4% unemployment, yet for new college graduates it is 6.6% for 12 months ending May 2025. Some companies are pushing back dates of hire into 2026.

Stephen Wolfram, a software designer, has deisgned a search engine which searches a structured database. The new version is called Wolfram Alpha Pro, which is a computational knowledge engine. The premium version is $4.99 a month, or $2.99 for students. Apple's Siri makes up about a fourth of the search queries handled by Wolfram Alpha. It works with data and images and can bring in figures and charts from different websites.
