A change is taking place with more Hispanic and white women, and white men gaining jobs in the private and government sectors. For black women 319,000 lost jobs in both the private and public sectors in Feb-July 2025, much of these losses in the federal government.  While 176,000 Hispanic women gained jobs in private and public sectors, for white women 142,000 gained jobs, and white men at 365,000 making the largest gain, labor statistics show.

Close all asylum hotels in orderly way, says former Justice Secretary under Blair, Charlie Falconer Home Office minister Angela Eagle says: “We inherited a chaotic asylum accommodation system costing billions. This government will close all hotels by the end of this parliament and we appealed this judgment so hotels like the Bell can be exited in a controlled and orderly way that avoids the chaos of recent years that saw 400 hotels open at a cost of £9m a day.”

Labour has to act decisively to meet the shift in the views of people in the UK and because it is plain common sense- UK citizens have no place being in asylum hotels in China or India paid for by the government, it is not even thought of as an idea that makes any sense, and the reverse is also true. Asia has pulled itself up by its bootstraps, Japan Korea, China and India after centuries of colonialism for billions of people only by building up at home.

Are elite colleges worth it and do they embody virtue today even if they did in the past. Dartmouth is not the little college embodying virtue that it was in the days of Daniel Webster. Some of the elite colleges have turned into business propositions that have neglected their history and their heroes in favor of an imported mix of ideas that have nothing to do with America's past, places where Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln would find they are foreigners.

Harry Truman changed this in 1947.Since then the US has been on the back foot even in its on backyard, where once the Monroe Doctrine made clear that colonial powers had no place in this hemisphere, today even in places like Venezuela and central America regimes operate against the interests of their people and create a massive refugee problem for the United States of America and other countries in the neighborhood. The USA was also on the back foot in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and after prematurely declaring victory in the Cold War finds that nothing of the sort of a win in the Cold War happened, as the adversaries in the Cold War reassert their interests. And the US faces crises of refugees and on its borders, Europe faces crises of refugees and on its borders.    ...

A finding that could create a health revolution in America- unhealthy snacks shift our appetite away from healthy foods. Families who shift away from processed or ultra processed foods and experiment with it for a month find that their cravings for these unhealthy snacks diminish, and they can eat healthy home cooked foods with gusto. Children who simply poked at the home cooked food are shown to relish eating home cooked meals after an experiment turning off ultraprocessed foods and snacks, foods that have unthinkingly crept into our nutrition and our food habits. We are simply setting up ourselves and our children for trouble ahead as these ultra processed foods deteriorate our nutritional fulfillment and cause diseases that would in the absence of ultraprocessed foods not happen. These diseases have become so commonplace today that we owe it to ourselves and our children to take corrective action.
