The DW's Ines Pohl interviews Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina as she begins a fourth term as prime minister. Hasina says "everybody should take a break so we can accomodate the younger generation."  Hasina says she will not run again. 

As the economy continues growth at 6-7 percent Hasina emphasizes basic needs of food security, housing, health, education, job opportunities. "Every human being wants a better life we have to insure that", says Hasina.

A big change for Hasina is in girl's education. "What I have done is that education for girls is totally free up to the 12th grade and that we provide a stipend to them." Hasina sees the culture change into making parents rethinking girl's education as a big change, believing that the girl can earn her own money as a good thing when she is married. It is a change she believes will continue to change Bangladesh society.

Hear this America- Calling something that is all around us a hoax is not like telling a lie on media. Calling a thing a hoax when it is a growing Threat has Big, Big, Big consequences that you might not even want to think about. Project 2025 and "Drill Baby Drill" would create billions of tons more of carbon pollution and destroy any climate change action that would help control climate change- causing even bigger fires and sudden floods all over the world. The cost says think tank Energy Innovation is 2.7 billion tons of carbon pollution- what India emits in 1 year- and 1.7 million job losses by 2030 from jobs lost in renewable energy including small offset from fossil fuels. The cost would be at the minimum over $1 trillion dollars to repair by 2028- the cost of not taking action on climate change for four years, of additional floods and fires larger than ones before,  and of tackling the additional damage to the climate, the loss of the technological advances needed over next 4 years, the investments needed to tackle a much larger problem than it is now. It would require larger deficits to tackle and risk the health and well being of future generations. For the US compared to China the consequence will be a severe loss of technological advantage in the technologies for renewable energy that no longer, no longer have the support of the government as they do in China.   ...

U.S. president Trump announces withdrawal from the Paris climate change accords, saying the U.S. will consider re-entering the agreement  or coming up with a new deal. He said "I was elected to represent Pittsburgh, not Paris." Trump said he was concerned about the environment, and avoided saying climate change scientific evidence was not correct. He based his concerns on the idea that China and India were getting an unfair financial advantage over the U.S. The U.S. had pledged under the Paris accords to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 28% from 2005 levels by 2025. The WSJ's Stokols and Ballhaus point out that president Trump had the option because of the nonbinding agreements committing nations to a broader goal of reducing emissions to combat temperature change of of 3.6 degrees F, to have modified emissions targets and still remained in the Paris accords. For Trump the motivation may have rested more on politics to shore up support in the Republican party which has largely opposed climate change targets.  ...

China's president expresses the need for greater cooperation between China and Germany during Scholz's Beijing visit and says "we jointly oppose the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons." Scholz for his part said "it is right and good that I am in Beijing today," that in times of change bilateral meetings were all the more important. China's president Xi said that "in times of change and turmoil" nations of influence should work together for world peace. This is the first time after the covid lockdowns that Chinese leaders are meeting a leader from a large western nation, and this is generally welcomed in China.

Bringing together all ministries and parts of government into an integrated planning and execution sought under the Indian prime minister's Gati Shakti Master plan for infrastructure is likely to bring a change in the culture of ministries and government at every level in India. Before for the years since independence in 1947 no attention was given to this idea of one team of many teams all working under one master plan at every level of government, much of the activity was conducted for development in separate silos. This massive culture change will accelerate development and ensure every rupee or dollar is spent to get the most out of infrastructure building efforts that benefit the public in India.

Scientists at Haifa, Kyoto, and at WWA the World Weather Attribution Group say climate change is a cause of the sudden floods in Libya which swept parts of Derna into the sea. It rarely rains in September in the Mediterranean and it is warming 20% faster than other oceans changing weather patterns. Sea surface temperatures near the coast of Libya was 81.5 degree Fahrenheit exceeding the 78.8 degrees when storm systems develop. Kyoto scientists say the two dams that burst had seen sediment accumulate over time reducing the capacity to retain flood waters, and setting loose a torrent of mud when the dams failed. Wars and lack of upkeep of the dams combined with climate change created the flood damage in Libya.

Microsoft leaders for reasons of climate change action and aid to poor African and Latin American nations see the positives in Harris-Walz focus on investment in the future. A similar situation exists with JP Morgan Chase bank leaders. Intel and Ford Motor Company leaders see the Biden administration investment in American companies for stronger competition with Chinese or Taiwanese companies, and for climate change action by investing in EV industry technologies, in the same way. Milei wins 41% of the vote in Argentina midterm Congressional elections in October 2025, with one third of Congress to support his economic programs to fight runaway inflation. About one third of the people live in poverty, as Milei resorted to tough action to fight over 100% inflation. It is  now down to 30%. Argentines are determined to find a way out of this inflationary crisis that happens once every decade for the last 70 years. The US plans to provide $20 billion in loan assistance, and another $20 billion from private funds. The IMF has a $55 billion program to support the economic programs that cut the number of people in the state sector companies and government, cut economic subsidies and social assistance, in a desperate effort to rein in inflation. Only when all members of society pull together, particularly young people, can a nation get its economic act right. Argentina must find a way. A rainy day fund has to be set up as happened in Brazil and Russia, financial prudence exercised by leaders, and the young people stepping up to change the country's future, change the trajectory forever. ...

Too many floods, fires and adverse events by 2024 for the US not to have a plan and deny climate change does not exist. The Biden administration gives flexibility to automakers to meet auto carbon emissions rules by 2032 by accelerating the progress in the last 3 years as the capital investments, research and learning curve for new technologies, manufacturing improvements and cost reduction, and charging station infrastructure enlargement have taken place by 2030. Biden administration officials clearly understand resistance of carbuyers when the charging stations needed do not exist and costs are high in 2024, and EV technologies are at learning stage.

The prime minister visits the home of the recipient of the 100 millionth cooking gas connection at her home built under loans for new homes under another scheme. President Biden says "I don't think anybody can deny the effects of climate change anymore," as the US goes through a heat wave in the south and the west of the country. Biden says it is outrageous that construction workers in some places were not given the right to a water break. Biden says the US Forests Service will use $1 billion to help cities and towns plant trees. This can help lower temperatures in cities and towns. San Antonio and Phoenix are some of the cities on the front lines of climate change, much of the south and western US is affected with abnormally high temperatures sometimes exceeding 110 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the hottest July on record in the whole world.
